Lesson Definitions:

Introductory Lesson:
An introductory lesson is the first lesson a student has. It includes filling out necessary paperwork and waivers, as well as an introduction to the instructor, facilities, and the student's lesson horse. The lesson typically runs an hour long with a 30 minute riding lesson. This lesson is to help the student decide whether or not WickedGood Horsemanship is the correct learning environment for them.
An introductory lesson is also required for your horse before it will be allowed to come for additional riding or ground work lessons on the property. This is especially important if you plan to use your horse in any group lesson on the property, as one of our instructors needs to approve your horse for safety reason.
Introductory lessons are always private and are required for all students.

Private Riding Lesson:
A private riding lesson takes place on the property one-on-one with the instructor. The lesson may take place in the round pen, arena, or on the longe-line depending on what the instructors feels will most help the student that day. These lessons are tailored to the individual student's learning needs and desires.
Riding lessons can be done English or Western. Lessons can be done on our horse or your horse (your horse will be required to complete an introductory lesson however). Riding helmets are required for all students, we do have some helmets available for use.

Group Riding Lesson:
Group riding lessons are completed with no fewer than two and no more than six students of similar riding experience at a time in the arena. Students learn horsemanship that they would learn in a private lesson and also have the opportunity to learn group riding etiquette and benefit from the social nature of riding with other students.
Riding lessons can be done English or Western. Lessons can be done on our horse or your horse (your horse will be required to complete an introductory lesson however). Riding helmets are required for all students, we do have some helmets available for use.

Trail Lessons:
Trail lessons take place out on the trails and state land near the J-6 Ranch Equestrian Center. The purpose of these lessons is to teach students how to safely ride a horse outside of an arena and navigate over changing terrain on the trail. These classes focus on teaching a student how to feel confident out in the open, as well as trail etiquette and how to cope with unique experiences that can pop up on the trail. These lessons may begin in the round pen or arena to help a student gain a understanding of the day's lesson before hitting the trail.
Trail lessons can be completed privately or in a group. In a group students also learn proper trail manners when passing people, as well as games that can be played with multiple riders out in the open.
If you want to take a trail lesson on your own horse, the horse is required to complete an introductory lesson and possibly a few riding lessons until the instructor feels confident that it is safe to take you and your horse out on the trail.
